On Top of the World...Flagstaff, Boulder CO

Jill & I
The hubby and I took a quick trip to one of my favorite places Boulder, CO this past weekend!
We went and stayed with my bestie Jill and her husband Andrew. During this weekend we toured Boulder, went up to Flagstaff with these faboulous views
and spent time of course eating and shopping on Pearl Street!

Mirror like reflection on the lake in Boulder

We took a trip up to Estes Park and the Aspen trees were displaying their beautiful golden fall color. Just breathtaking! We listened to this on the way up there!

Andrew & Jill

It was Elk season. Look at this Stately Male framed by the Aspens,  what a great site!

Then on the way out of the park we saw this majestic male with the
mountains for a backdrop.

What a wonderful weekend. We need to plan these impromtu trips more often. Next weekend we get to go visit Drama Darling at Iowa State for family weekend. I can't wait to visit Ames and see my baby and the midwestern fall color and watch the Cyclones win their football game against Kansas State!
More to come...enjoy your fall wherever you be.

New Friends with New Shops

I have made some new friends the past few years and two of them have new shops that opened this week. These two shops could not be more different, one has a very vintage, eclectic feel to it and the other has a very contemporary bright gallery one. They are very alike in that they carry unique goods & handmade artisan items and are two of the nicest people you could ever meet. I hope that if you are ever in the area of either of them you stop in and say hello!

Let me introduce you...

My hope is that these two who are following their dreams and visions are very successful for many years to come!

Hazy days of Summer

Festival of the Arts show in Libertyville August 4-5.
Details on the upcoming shows link at top of this page!

This will be my 21st year doing this art show and I always want to make better and more pieces then the year before. I love to stress challenge myself each and every year!!!

I soldered a bunch of bezels & pendants today, still need a few more and then off to finishing them all.

Drama darling (on right in pic) will be going back to Iowa State for her sophmore year. She has officially decided to make Journalism/Public Relations her major. So if any of you out there in blog land (come on I know there are some writers and PR folks out there) are in this profession I would love to know about the job outlook.

She has had a busy summer working, taking classes and of course hanging out with friends. The time has gone by way to fast, I feel like she just got home and now we are getting ready for the return trip. House seems so empty when she is gone.

We have also been to many a softball game with baby girl. There is nothing I love better then watching a good softball game, but this summer it has been HOT here in the midwest (look at the pretty grass in the background). The poor girls are holding up and us parents, well we are doing o.k.

I have spent the summer flea marketing, canoeing, hanging out with friends and family, eating, drinking oh and motorcycle riding (more about this in another post).

Until next time...hope you are all enjoying this warm dry summer. My husband keeps reminding me that snow is just around the corner so enjoy this!

A glimpse at Jewels in the Garden

What a wonderful weekend for a outdoor show. We had incredible weather and some of our favorite people to spend it with. Here are a few pictures that show a glimpse of what the show looked like.

Jeannie and I set up our jewelry in her pool house that her husband built. Every girls idea of a perfect retreat. It sure made a beautiful boutique space. There was garden art around outside and a tent with bits of vintage goodness.

Here are a few of my new pieces that debuted at the show.

Jeannie's beautiful backyard patio and pool. I don't think I would ever leave home, so serene.

I will share more pictures soon.

Thanks to all who came out and supported our efforts this week! Hope you are enjoying all your new goodies!

Looking at Spring

For this weeks challenge I was inspired by the warm weather we are having in the midwest this March. We have been having 80 degree days, shocking. The flowers and trees are starting to bloom, this just does not happen around here this early...ever!!! I think I love it.

I decided to pull out some of my vintage stash that reminded me of spring to work with for my challenge. I used some of my Antropologie catalogs {that I have a very good collection of, after all they are works of art} for some inspiration. I found an outfit I liked and designed a piece to go with it. Here are the results...

Sorry my images are a little late this week. Did I say how nice the weather was???

Sunday

St. Patrick's Day in the City

We went downtown yesterday on St. Patrick's Day for Drama Darlings last day home of spring break {The girls brought their boyfriends}. It was a beautiful day, never seen here in Chicago in March and we soaked up the sun as we saw the sites. We visited the Bean, Marilyn & the Chicago River was once again dyed green!!!

My challenge pictures will be delayed a day due to the fact that I spent the day downtown with my family. I promise to get them up!!!

First seven

Last week I put out a challenge for myself and whoever else wanted to take it on...7 new art pieces in 7 days. Here are my results for the week.

For details or to purchase this item click on my tart-traveling art shopping link at the top of page or link below
http://cindyroehrich.blogspot.com/p/shop-tart-traveling-art.html
1. Mosaic Collage Necklace

2. Vintage Domino Necklace

3. Vintage watch face Earrings

4. Vintage watch face necklace with a lucky horseshoe

5. Vintage watch face with a cross and vintage milagro

6. Lion button necklace {I am a Leo, this one will be a keeper}

7. Watch face with a vintage victorian button set in the middle with tassels necklace

I must admit harder then I thought. Creating 7 new designs, had to put my creative cap on 7 days, make the time. I actually really enjoyed it. I played with a lot of my watch pieces that I have collected over the years. I felt that it made sense to use them first since this challenge lets me see how precious time is. Making the time to do things you enjoy every day. The design process is my favorite process and I tend to not leave enough time for it. I have learned this week that I need to focus more on that.

I was so inspired that I did a redesign on the blog too. It was about time, really it was!

Feel free to join in at any time if you want to take this on. Would love the company. Check out Jeannie from The Gilded Junqueyard who is participating. {url listed under challenge on the sidebar}

Enjoy the week, I know I will spring is in the air!!!
